Create a Simple Search

The Simple Search page offers the possibility of detailing a query in a search box and using two options to find documents according to their size or date (creation or modification date).

Go to the Simple Search page.
Type the query terms in the search box.
The list of collections is displayed underneath the Search text box. You can perform your query on all of the collections, meaning that ActewAGL Search will search for documents in the entire index. You can also choose among the available collections, according to the category for instance. In that case, ActewAGL Search will only get results from the selected collections, and consequently, only from the information sources that belong to these collections. Choose the collections by selecting or clearing the check boxes.
Click the Search button or hit the Enter key.

Create an Advanced Search

Go to the Advanced Search page.
Enter the terms in the appropriate text boxes and make sure to insert a space between every word.
Select the predefined search fields and indicate the values in the appropriate text boxes or choose them from the lists.
Click Search.

Here is an overview of the available categories and their respective options:

Categories	Options	Description
Collections	List of collections	You can create a query on all of the collections, meaning that ActewAGL Search will search for documents in the entire index. You can also choose one or many of the available collections. In that case, ActewAGL Search will only look for documents on the selected collections, and consequently only in the information sources that belong to that collection.
Keywords	Text Box: All of these words	Finds the documents that contain the specified words, in no specific order.
	Text Box: This exact phrase	Finds the documents that contain the phrase or words, in the same order as entered in the text box.
	Text Box: Any of these words	Finds the documents that contain at least one of the words listed in the text box.
	Text Box: None of these words	Excludes the documents that contain the specified words.
	Custom query: Advanced Query	Finds the documents that match the custom query. Requires that you use search operators (and, or, not, near, quotes and parenthesis) and system fields.
Date	Check box: Anytime	Finds all of the documents, date does not affect the search results.
	Check box: In the last days/months Text box to write the number of days or months. List introducing the following choices: Days and months	Finds documents that were created or modified since the specified date.
	Check box: Between (dates) List to indicate the start and end dates.	Finds documents that were created or modified in the specified date range.
Document Properties: Format	List introducing the following choices: Any File Type, HTML Document, Adobe PDF File, Microsoft Word Document, Rich Text Format, WordPerfect Document, Microsoft Excel Worksheet, Microsoft PowerPoint Presentation, Text Document and XML Document	Finds all of the documents, of any file format, or only those corresponding to the selected choice.
Document Properties: Size	List introducing the following choices: At least, At most	Find the documents whose size is higher or lower than the number indicated.
Document Properties: Language	List introducing the following choices: All, English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch and Catalan.	Finds documents written in any language or in the selected language.
Document Properties: Address	List introducing the following choices: contains, matches and does not contain.	Finds the documents whose address contains the specified words or expressions or corresponds exactly to the specified words or expressions, or excludes the documents that include them in the address.
Document Properties: Title	List introducing the following choices: contains, matches and does not contain.	Finds the documents whose title contains the specified words or expressions or corresponds exactly to the specified words or expressions, or excludes the documents that include them in the title field.
Document Properties: Author	List introducing the following choices: contains, matches and does not contain.	Finds the documents whose author contains the specified words or expressions or corresponds exactly to the specified words or expressions, or excludes the documents that include them in the author field.
