Television services FAQ

Can I watch TransTV on more than one television at a time?

The set-top box is only able to receive one channel at a time. You will require an additional set-top box for each television in order to watch different TransTV channels on separate television units.

Can I access the internet and use the TransTV service at the same time?

Yes, viewing programs through the set-top box will not be affected by the internet connection.

Are programs broadcast in digital quality?

TransTV is a fully digital television network. Every channel is in DVB (Digital Video Broadcast) compliant digital quality. The network is designed to work with all current (Standard Definition or SDTV) televisions, not just with widescreen (High Definition or HDTV). You will see a noticeable improvement in the quality of the picture on most televisions including reduced or eliminated ghosting, graininess and distortion.

Can my set-top box auto detect programs that are broadcast in high-definition and/or widescreen?

Not all programs that are broadcast on TransTV are broadcast in high-definition and or/a widescreen format, this is determined by the channel that provides the program. Currently the TransACT set-top boxes don't support auto-detection of high-definition programming or widescreen, however we are working on providing auto detection feature in the future.

Connecting a VCR to the television and set-top box

TransACT installation contractors will connect your television to the set-top box. The diagrams below represent some methods of connecting your VCR to the television and set-top box. These are recommendations only.

Example 1

Connecting a VCR to the television and set-top box

This connection method requires both the VCR and television to be on an AV channel. Usually the VCR will have "AV" "TV/AV " or "Input select" on it. You will only need to plug in one RCA audio cable. You will be able to hear the sound.

Example 2

RF Bridge

This connection method requires the VCR will need to be tuned into UHF45 on any channel. The best way to tune the television in is to play a tape on the VCR and tune the television until you can see the tape playing on the screen.

Example 3

RCA/RF bridge

This connection method requires the VCR to be on an AV channel and the television channel tuned to the VCR. The best way to tune the television in is to play a tape on the VCR and tune the television until you can see the tape playing on the screen.
